Site
visit to Marinduque
Angelo L. Morales
In preparation for the Teachers’
Development Program (TDP) this October, the Office of Pahinungód
and Continuing Education visited the province of Marinduque, the
identified beneficiary community of the program. The Teachers’
Development Program seeks to enhance the competencies of teachers
through the sharing or transfer of current academic knowledge
and teaching skills to public school teachers.
The
site visit team included UP Manila College of Arts and Sciences
Professor Natividad Lacdan, TDP Program Coordinator Mary Jean
Morante, and Pahinungód volunteer Angelo Morales. On the
evening of July 17, 2005, the team left Manila and took a bus
to Dalahican, Quezon. From Quezon, the team took a ferry to Marinduque.
Upon arrival at Marinduque, the team proceeded to the Division
Office of the Department of Education where they met the Education
Supervisors and Mrs. Angelina M. Matining. Mrs. Matining is the
Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Assistant Schools Division
Superintendent and ES 1–Research, Evaluation and Guidance.
The
specific content of the training was discussed during the meeting.
The training will focus on the art of questioning and test exam
construction. In addition to these, a review of some topics in
the basic subjects Math, Science, English and Social Studies will
also be conducted.
After
the meeting, the team had an ocular visit at the optional venues
wherein the training would be conducted—Cawit National High
School and Cawit Elementray School. At the high school, the principal
and faculty members welcomed the team. A total of 81 faculty from
various high schools in Marinduque are expected to attend the
training that would be held from October 24 to 28. The Office
of Pahinungód and Continuing Education is collaborating
with the Office of Marinduque Governor Carmencita O. Reyes.
