to join the Summer Immersion Service Program
Pahinungód office is now accepting volunteer applicants
until March 7 to be part of the Summer Immersion
Service Program or SISP for this Summer 2006. Application is open
to all UP Manila students and alumni.
SISP
is one of the volunteer service programs of the Pahinungód
Office, which aims to expose volunteers to the social realities
in the rural areas by providing them the opportunity to live and
experience life in the barrios; and to render service to the needy
rural communities in which they are immersed. The volunteer will
experience a 3-week deployment to a community while living with
his or her foster family. There will be a preceptorial/faculty
visit in the middle of their deployment to ask the volunteers
about their experiences or problems while in the area.
Pre-Deployment
Training – April 17-19, 2006 at Bahay ng Pahinungód,
UP Los Baños Deployment – April 20 to May 15, 2006 Processing – May 17, 2006
Possible sites – Camarines Sur, Batangas, Real & Infanta,
Quezon
Once
a volunteer fulfills all the necessary requirements and is willing
to be deployed, Pahinungod freely provides the following:
1)
Accident insurance while on field/during deployment
2) Actual transportation allowance
3) Minimal food allowance during deployment
4) Pre-and Post deployment Training Seminar (including food,
transportation and lodging accommodations).
