Invitation to join the Summer Immersion Service Program

Pahinungód office is now accepting volunteer applicants until March 7 to be part of the Summer Immersion Service Program or SISP for this Summer 2006. Application is open to all UP Manila students and alumni.

SISP is one of the volunteer service programs of the Pahinungód Office, which aims to expose volunteers to the social realities in the rural areas by providing them the opportunity to live and experience life in the barrios; and to render service to the needy rural communities in which they are immersed. The volunteer will experience a 3-week deployment to a community while living with his or her foster family. There will be a preceptorial/faculty visit in the middle of their deployment to ask the volunteers about their experiences or problems while in the area.

Pre-Deployment Training – April 17-19, 2006 at Bahay ng Pahinungód, UP Los Baños
Deployment – April 20 to May 15, 2006
Processing – May 17, 2006
Possible sites – Camarines Sur, Batangas, Real & Infanta, Quezon

Once a volunteer fulfills all the necessary requirements and is willing to be deployed, Pahinungod freely provides the following:

1) Accident insurance while on field/during deployment
2) Actual transportation allowance
3) Minimal food allowance during deployment
4) Pre-and Post deployment Training Seminar (including food, transportation and lodging accommodations).
